Below you will find a link to the final report and action plan from the 2007 National Joint Convocation on Small Christian Communities.
As the report will explain further, representatives from the five sponsoring organizations that planned and conducted the convocation met in late November to refine the material from closing reports read at the convocation's closing Eucharist.
Multi-level (individual, small Christian community, parish, diocese, national, international) action steps are laid out under three themes: Networking, Education and Formation, Promoting Cultural and Diversity Sensitivity.
The final report/action plan was e-mailed to those whose working addresses we have. It was also mailed in hardcopy form to the rest of the convocation participants. Since it is not always possible for us to distinguish from the mailing list who wants a copy of the report in which language, everyone received a copy in both languages. Please make the extra copy available to someone who might find it useful.
It is now up to folks at each of the six levels to take up these suggestions and make things happen. Collaboration within and between the several levels will offer the most fruitful path to deepening and promoting small Christian communities.
One thing remains to be completed in conjunction with the convocation. The ten hours of convocation video have now been reviewed. Basic editorial decisions have been made and the work of producing a set of DVDs that will allow folks around the country to replicate something of the convocation process on a local basis is underway. We will let you know the particulars as soon as this work is complete.
